    WHAT'S HAPPENING?

SUMMER FOOD ASSISTANCE

1) The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) launched the Pandemic EBT application for families on May 1 at https://abe.illinois.gov/abe/access/. P-EBT is a new special benefit that can help families buy food for their school age children who would normally receive National School Lunch Program (NSLP) free or reduced-priced meals when schools are in session.

  • Families that currently receive SNAP benefits do not need to apply for P-EBT benefits. These additional P-EBT benefits will be loaded into Illinois LINK EBT accounts along with regular SNAP benefits.
  • Families who do not currently receive SNAP benefits but do have children who receive NSLP free or reduced-priced meals will need to apply directly with IDHS. The fastest way for families to receive benefits is to complete the application for P-EBT available online (Click “Apply for Benefits” at the link.) A paper application in English and Spanish is also available and can be submitted by email to DHS.FCS.PEBT@illinois.gov.

2) For other assistance, please consider signing up at the Lexington Food Pantry for a monthly food distribution.  Any individual or family facing an urgent or unexpected need, should call Sue Noland at 309-825-8760.

3) For anyone who is interested in assisting the the Lexington Food Pantry with their mission, please consider making a monetary donation to this tremendous organization to help them serve the families in our community.

About our school

The Lexington School District is located in and around a small rural community situated along Interstate #55, north of the twin cities of Bloomington and Normal. The city of Lexington has a population of approximately 2,100 people and is viewed as an up-and-coming community with small town values and big city amenities.  Approximately 500 students in grades PreK-12 are housed at one campus located in Lexington. Our school is rich in tradition in the classroom and on the athletic fields.  We are proud of the outstanding academic opportunities that we are able to offer our students, whether it is our small class sizes of at the elementary level, or the multiple dual-credit opportunities for our high school students. Recently named one of the Best High Schools by the US World and News Report, please contact us or stop by our school and see what it takes to become a Lexington Minutemen!
